Introduction
Spacer ("we", "our", or "us") is developed by Proxima Nubis Ltd, operating as Aptic. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the Spacer mobile application ("the App").
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Images and Content
Spacer helps you visualize interior design styles. To provide this functionality, we process:
- User-Provided Images: Photos you capture using the App or upload from your device’s photo library.
- Generated Content: AI-styled images produced based on your input and selected style.
Images are processed only at your request and for the purpose of providing the App’s core functionality.
1.2 Account and Technical Information
We may collect limited technical and account-related information, including:
- Device Information: Platform (iOS), app version, and basic device metadata required for functionality.
- Authentication Information: Anonymous or authenticated identifiers generated by Firebase Authentication (e.g., Firebase UID).
- Usage Metadata: Basic operational data (such as request timestamps and job status) necessary to deliver and maintain the service.
We do not collect precise location data, contacts, or personal identifiers such as names or addresses unless explicitly provided by you.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information solely to operate and improve Spacer, including:
- AI-Powered Image Styling: Processing images using generative AI to apply selected interior design styles.
- Service Operation: Managing image processing jobs, saving results, and enabling access across app sessions.
- Reliability and Improvement: Monitoring performance, diagnosing errors, and improving stability and user experience.
We do not use your images or personal data for advertising purposes.
3. Data Processing and Third-Party Services
3.1 AI Image Processing
To provide image styling features, your images are transmitted securely to Google’s generative AI services (such as Gemini via Google Cloud or Vertex AI).
- Images are processed only to generate the requested output.
- We do not use your images to train our own machine learning models.
- Processing occurs only when initiated by you.
3.2 Cloud Infrastructure and Backend Services
We use Google Cloud Platform and Firebase to operate the App, including:
- Authentication: Managed through Firebase Authentication.
- Storage: Temporary storage of generated styled outputs, and other limited storage needed to operate image processing workflows, using Google Cloud Storage.
- Security and Abuse Prevention: Firebase App Check and related protections.
These service providers act as data processors and handle data in accordance with their own privacy and security obligations.
3.3 Temporary Storage of Generated Outputs
To support asynchronous processing and retrieval, when you submit an image for styling, the original request is processed and the generated styled output may be stored securely in Google Cloud Storage for up to 48 hours.
This temporary retention allows the App to retrieve and deliver the completed result if processing finishes after the initial request, and to recover from interrupted or delayed processing.
- These stored generated outputs are not kept indefinitely and are automatically deleted after the retention window.
- They are used only to provide the requested service, including delivery of completed results and operational recovery where needed.
- Access to stored images is limited, and where applicable delivery is handled through short-lived signed links rather than public access.
- This temporary retention applies to generated outputs associated with your request and is not used for advertising or sale to third parties.
3.4 No Sale or Commercial Sharing of Data
We do not sell, rent, or commercially share your personal data or images with third parties.
4. Data Retention and Security
4.1 Data Retention
- On-Device Storage: Styled images may be stored locally on your device.
- Temporary Cloud Retention: Generated styled outputs may be stored securely for up to 48 hours to support retrieval, delivery, and recovery of completed processing jobs.
- Account Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated data through the App or by contacting us.
- Operational Data: Certain non-identifiable technical data may be retained for a limited period for operational purposes.
4.2 Security Measures
We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Access controls and authentication
- Managed cloud infrastructure with industry-standard security practices
While no system is completely secure, we take appropriate steps to protect your information.
5. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent by discontinuing use of image processing features
- Lodge a complaint with a relevant data protection authority
To exercise these rights, contact us at: support@aptic.nz
6. Children's Privacy
Spacer is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App or on our website, and the effective date will be updated accordingly.
